# Automations

> Schedule recurring Spark tasks, like competitor research or performance briefings, so work keeps moving when you're away.

An automation runs a Spark task on a schedule. Each run opens a Spark conversation you can review, so you always see what it did. Use automations for anything you'd otherwise do by hand every week.

## Where to find it

Open **Automations** in the sidebar.

## Start from a template

The page lists ready-made tasks under **Start with a ready-made task**. Filter by **Competitor research**, **Creative strategy**, **Customer insights** or **Meta performance**, or search for a task. Click a template to customize it before saving. Some templates need a connected Meta ad account.

## Create an automation

1. Click **New automation** and choose **Create manually**. Or choose **Create with Spark** and Spark will interview you and set it up.
2. Give it a **Name**, for example "Daily performance briefing".
3. Write the **Prompt**: what Spark should do on each run. Write it like a message to Spark.
4. Pick a **Mode**. **Review** holds results for your approval. **Autopilot** runs and applies results automatically.
5. Set when it runs: **Repeat** (Daily, Weekdays or Weekly), the time in **At**, and the **Timezone**.
6. Turn on **Email me when this automation runs** to get an email when a run completes or fails.
7. Click **Create automation**.

> [!WARNING]
> In Autopilot mode an automation can generate ads and spend credits without asking. Start with Review mode until you trust the results.

## Manage automations

Each card shows when it runs next and when it last ran. Its menu has:

- **Run now** to start a run immediately
- **Pause** and **Resume**
- **View runs** to see run history. Click **View chat** on any run to open its Spark conversation.
- **Edit** and **Delete**. Deleting also removes the run history.

## Write good automation prompts

- Say what to look at and what to produce: "Check my watchlist for new ads since yesterday and summarize the three most interesting hooks."
- Say what to do with the result: "If any ad set has spent over $50 with no purchases, flag it."
- Keep one job per automation. Two small automations are easier to review than one big one.
